Looking Down…

Gwrych Castle-2

Looking down at the ruins of Gwrych Castle, Abergele. It’s hard now to believe that this was an intact building as late as the 1990s…

Facade

Looking along the facade of Gwrych Castle in Abergele. In the 1960s, it was one of North Wales’ top tourist attractions but it had become a derelict ruin by the late 1990s. Plans were recently unveiled to renovate it into a luxury hotel and spa.

Underneath The Arches

The photograph of Gwrych Castle I posted the other day proved popular, so here’s another shot from my Photo Tour back in 2010, this time of the carriage drive leading from the rear of the castle to the front, past the former Stables. I’ve taken nearly 1,000 photographs of Gwrych Castle over the past couple of years – an attempt to document its present condition before either renovation work starts or final decay sets in.
